CAREER GUIDANCE CELL

The Career Guidance and Placement Cell formerly known as ´The Information and Career Guidance Cell (ICGC)´ was established in December, 2000. The cell was established under the guidance of Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) who took the initiative of establishing such cell in all educational institutions in the state to provide information about various self employment opportunities for the students and youth and also provide mentoring and guidance to help them in undertaking entrepreneurial activities. The Cell was later renamed as Career guidance and Placement Cell.

Career Counseling :

  • Personalized career counseling sessions for students to explore to explore various career paths.
  • Expert talks and seminars on higher education and career options.

 

Skill Development Programs :

  • Workshops on resume writing, interview techniques and soft skill development.
  • Aptitude tests and mock interviews to prepare students for the recruitment process.
  • Training on communication leadership and critical thinking skills

 

Internship Opportunities :

  • Assistance in securing internship to help students gain practical industry experiences.
  • Partnerships with companies for live projects and real-world exposure.

 

Campus placement Drives :

  • Organizing on campus and virtual placement drives in collaboration with top recruiters.
  • Proving information about off-campus job opportunities and recruitment drives.

 

Industry-College Interface :

  • Regular industry visits and guests lectures from professionals across various sectors.
  • Collaboration with Industries for knowledge-sharing events, project assignments and internships.

 

Certificate Course on soft skill :

  • Conduct certificate course on soft skills for the students of undergraduate students for a period of 36 hours per semester.

 

Activities of Career Guidance and Placement Cell

1. State Innovative and Transformation Aayog (SITA), Govt. of Assam presented workshop on “Creating Awareness on Career Planning and Development”. Conducted by K. C. Das Commerce College and organized by Career Guidance and Placement Cell, HGC on 18th November 2023.

2. JOB FAIR, Connecting Dreams, One Opportunity at a Time. Job was held on 17th February 2024 at Sudents’ Day Home, with CII Model Career Centre in collaboration with Handique Girls’ College Teachers’ Unit and Career Guidance and Placement Cel, IQAC Handique Girls’ College. Participating industries were Logistics, E- Commerec, Warehouse, BPO, Automobiles, Retails, Manufacturing, and NBFC Banking. Four students of our college got the job of HR Management Trainee.

3. Board of Practical Training (Eastern Region) under Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education, Govt. of India in association with Career Guidance and Placement Cell and IQAC, HGC organized a Job Mela on 28th February 2024. There was a walk in interview where several renowned companies participated.

4. An interactive session with the team of Takshashila School of Civil Services was organized by Career Guidance and Placement Cell, HGC, on 26th August 2023 to discuss and generate awareness among the students about various options through Civil Services.
