TThe unit donated 20 chairs to the adopted village. The volunteers undertaken plantation drive in the vaillege Bor Amudpur; organised free health check up camp; oraganised art competition amongst the students, taught dance to the children; organised rally against the alcohol in the village.
The unit organised a workshop on Career Counselling along with the History department. Mr. Ranjan Kr. Baruah, the career mentor of Assam delivered a lecture on future career of the students. NSS P.O., the faculties of History department and NSS volunteers and other students were present in the programme.
NSS volunteer Anushka Singha from Psychology department participated in the 2 days workshop on digital story telling organised at Hotel Grand Bhabendra Alay Beltola. The programme was organised by the Regional Directorate of NSS, Guwahati.
Today the NSS volunteers of Handique Girls College along with other students organized a campus clean drive. Around 26 Volunteers joined in the programme
On the occasion of World Water Day, the NSS volunteers performed a street play, on the topic – ‘Accelerating the change to solve the water and sanitation crises’.
The NSS unit of Handique Girls College organised a 10 day Self Defense Training programme in the college campus. Around 40 students joined in the programme which was organised in collaboration with ITF Tang Soo Do Sports and The Student Union Of Handique Girls College. The progarmme was organised from 23/02/2023 to 04/03/2023. Training was provided by Martin Debojit Gogoi and Bornali Gogoi. The students were greatly benefitted. On the last day vatidictory function was held where Amal Narayan Patowary , Joint Secretory , Assam Olympic Association delivered a lecture. Dr. Jayashree Choudhury anchored the programme and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Binoy Kr. Nath, NSS P.O.
Today the NSS unit of Handique Girls College organised an orientation programme on Employability Skills development at Day home. A total of 158 students were present at this orientation. Dr .Debarati das, assistant professor of English department gave the welcome speech. Dr. Meghna Kaushik , was the resource person for this orientation. She gave an valuable and interactive lecture and the volunteers and the students learned many new things from this orientation. The vote of thanks was given by Nistha Das, a NSS volunteer.
Today the NSS unit of Handique Girls College organised a seminar for the volunteers in collaboration with Indian Institute of Digital Academy in the Day home on digital education and digital marketing. A total of 74 students were present at this programme. Vice Principal Mr. Dhirendra Mohan Kumar delivered the welcome address. Neha Sharma, founder of IIDA delivered the interactive lecture and talked on different aspects of digital marketing. Mr. Parimal Kanti Chanda , venture of IIDA was also present on the programme. Dr. Debarati Das , assistant professor of English department anchored the programme. The vote of thanks was given by Ahana Roy a NSS volunteer.
The day was observed by the NSS Unit. Around 50 volunteers along with P.O. from the unit participated in a rally oraganised by Assam AIDS Control Society around the GMCH complex. The rally was flagged off by Elvis Ali Hazarika, famous swimmer. The Unit also organised an awareness programme in the college campus. Mr. Prakash Sarma, resource person from Assam State AIDS Control Society delivered a lecture among the volunteers on different aspects of AIDS.
The Unit observed the Constitution day in the college. A talk on the Bharatvarsh, the mother of democracy was delivered by Dr. Pallabi Deka, Assistant Professor of Political Science. The programme was attended by NSS P. O and volunteers.
The Unit participated in the Rashtriya Ekta Divas celebration at Nehru Stadium. A Run for Unity organised the government of Assam from Nehru Stadium around Dighalipukhuri and back to Nehru Stadium on 31/10/2022. The Chief Minister of Assam, Union Water Minister and other dignitaries were present in the programme. More than 100 students and NSS volunteers of the college participated in the Run for Unity flagged off by the Chief Minister.
On the occasion World Polio Day the NSS Unit along with NSS Units of Guwahati Commerce College and in collaboration with Rotary Club, Guwahati South organised awareness programme in Guwahati Commerce College on 22/10/2022. A rally from Commerce College to Zoo Road Tiniali was organised. After that a lecture was delivered by the members of Rotary Club on the importance of observance of Polio Day.
The NSS Unit organised a clean drive programme on the occasion of Fit India campaign launched by the Government of India. More than 50 students and volunteers cleaned the college campus and Guwahati Railway Station.
On 29th September the Unit organised an awareness programme on nutrition on the auspicious month of Posan Maah. The programme was organised in the Uzan bazaar Government high School. Namrata Paul Saha , faculty member of Nemcare Group of Institute and Arya college of Nursing delivered a talk on the importance of balance food amongst the students of the school. There was also an interactive session. More than 50 students along with the Head Master and other teachers of the school were present in the programme.
Today on the 29th of September the NSS unit and Red Ribbon Club organised a blood donation camp in the college campus in association with Assam State AIDS Control Society and Assam State Blood Transfusion Council and Gauhati Medical College Hospital. 46 volunteers voluntarily came forward and 14 units of blood were collected.
On the occasion of World Rivers Day 25/09/22, the NSS unit of our college in collaboration with Save Bharalu Abhijan organised an awareness programme amongst the students on 26/09/2022. Dr. Rabindra Majumdar, the President of the Save Bharalu Abhijan delivered a lecture on the theme of reviving Bahini-Bharalu rivers of Guwahati. More than 70 students were present in the programme. Dr. Pranab Bujarbarua, Assistant Professor of Botany Department delivered the welcome address. Faculty member of Economics department Dr. Jayashree Choudhury anchored the entire programme. Vote of thanks was offered by Dr. Binoy Kr Nath, NSS P.O.
The unit celebrated the NSS Foundation on 24th September 2022.The principal of the college Dr. Utpal Dutta and Vice Principal Mr. Rajib Kr. Das were present in the meeting spoke about the importance of NSS in students life and also encouraged the volunteers to devote themselves for social work.
